Read your comments on The Villa Agency, how about the point of view from the renters side.
Villa Agency is one of the only agency which is smart enough to give a reduced price to smaller parties.
I rent in portugal Carvoerio and Tavira about four times a year every year, the biggest problem is Not everybody wants or needs 3/4 bedrooms
smaller ones are not as readily available in the location that you require. and in the main nobody is prepared to reduce prices and I can only presume leave the villas empty it seems to me bad economics to stay empty because you wanted £1,400 pounds in october for 8 people if somebody is willing to pay £600 to £800 for two people. You should also consider that bookings in England for holidays for 2004 have been very low and villa Agency are probably anticipating a bad year. personally I love a villa holiday and if you have a large party or family the standard of accommodation you get in a villa is far superior to anything that you could possibly get in a package deal hotel ect. and in my opinion far better value for money. Unfortunatley many of us that have that kind of money no longer have three children at home or want to go on holiday with a party of 8 to 10.
Another point when complaining about the Agency how many of you keep you availability up to date , you should try booking from this end not always easy.
Anyway I am on my way again this October.

I'm surprised if the Villa Agency is 'the only one' offering reductions for under occupancy. We certainly offer reductions during the winter season for long stays and under occupancy for our QDP villa advertised on this site. And our managing agents Algarvillas also do this for all the properties that they manage.
The rationale being that it is better for the villa to be lived in than left empty, particularly over the damp winter months.
