2 bed villa

Post by griff61 »

Please can anyone help, daughter and boyfriend looking for a 2 bed villa to rent from 6th July for two weeks, anywhere within a 30-40 minute max drive from Carvoeiro. Short notice I know!!

They don't mind what size but would like air con and private pool or terrace ( I know not asking for much) budget of £500 per week.

Carvoeiro can be well over priced.
Corralejo on Fuerteventura you may get a small villa for 500 euros/week - try it, nice place.

Looked on Holiday Lettings and used the Algarve as a general search.

Based on the parameters given I was amazed that only one place came up in that price band and that was a 2 bed apartment in Olhos de Agua with a shared pool. Even Alentejo did not have anything.

In other destinations around the Med there were hundreds of villas available in that price band, and many were really well appointed and close to many of the major holiday centres.

Maybe that's another reason why tourism in the Algarve is on its r's, it's pricing itself out of the holiday market for a large proportion of tourists.

I live here and have never really looked at this before, but it is worrying for the future of the tourism industry that a lot of holidaymakers will look and find somewhere else and the Algarve will then struggle to get these people back.

We need more tourists to sort out the economic crisis but it looks like we will lose more than we gain.

We also have looked at owners direct, holiday lettings etc and found many villas for a £1,000 or more per week.

Have e-mailed owners of some and managed to get one in Monchique, 4 bed with pool and aircon for £500 per week and one in Tavira a villa with pool and aircon for the same price.

The original question was if anyone was willing to do a deal for last minute booking, or knows of anyone who might have a villa nearer to Carvoeiro as I and the rest of the family are staying on ADM the same two weeks, not for £500 per week though!

We also holiday Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Menorca etc and are aware prices a lot cheaper, but still love Carvoeiro.

Also aware a lot of owners feel there is a minimum amount they will accept before it's cheaper to leave empty, as has been mentioned before in other posts.

we were booked long ago. as for £500 I think that is a price more for off season in the winter for anything reasonable. I think the cheapest place I noticed around CVO was Quinto do Paraiso. I see you have something inland, also try nearby there in Silves area or Alberferia with a shared pool? I recall we stayed in a B & B in the Silves area, which was very quiet and had a lovely pool that was very reasonable. Is there anything on the internet with a holiday all in for self catering? Solferias Hotel is cheap, which has a kitchenette and clearly shared pool. Also watch out with A/C as that could be extra. A maid is something usually all in the prices. People letting have to pay for the garden, water and electric is very expensive, maintenance, taxes, management and so the list goes on. If you can get a last minute deal for £500 grab it, but double check you are not being charged extra. Glad you enjoy CVO so much. Sorry but those other places are no match for CVO. We LOVE it. 8)

Well they proved me wrong! They managed to get offered two villas, one a 3 bed with own pool and aircon on QDP and a 4 bed in Sesmarias with pool, gardens, aircon and wifi included, even whirpool bath, all for £500 per week. So it can be done if you have the nerve to wait till the last minute.

Thanks to everyone that replied and sent PMs.

Are they going for the 4 bed? Very lucky, guess you are right people effectively get desperate to sell even for a song. Good luck to them. if they like walking they can probably get from Sesmarias if near the tennis club in about 25 minute walk but less from QDP. 8)

Hi Licy

Yes going for the 4 bed, not sure where in Sesmarias but they have a car and don't drink.

QDP long enough walk for me, but handy for Monte Carvoeiro.

Great. Wish we were about to go again but our place is booked solidly almost to our next trip in October.
