relocating to the Algarve_ Carvoeiro

Post by Bobby Jacobs »

Hi has anybody in Carvoeiro got the time or inclination to answer some questions for me about moving to the area. we are coming to have a look late Sep/Oct but as it is a big step to sell up here there are lots of things to find out. One of my biggest concern is the availabilty of a library as I devour books. Another is being able to use a gym/health centre.
Hope for a reply.

a few portuguese librabies..poor selection of english books...portuguese are not great readers..survey a few years back said the average local had only read one book in a year

best to come for 6 months and get a feel for the place before you jump in with both feet

Hi

I am also moving to Carvoeiro in November. I am a fitness instructor and am considering opening my own fitness studio as a possibility if there would be any interest. The only places like this I have heard of are on tourist complexes although I haven't researched it fully.

If anyone can give any more info on this subject I'd be grateful also.

I guess I didn't come across as I meant. I just wondered whether anyone would be interested in a fitness studio or whether there were tons of them around every corner. I wasn't actually looking for any business advice - not just yet anyway!
So I guess I was just looking for the information the original poster was asking too.

Looks like there are quite a few of us relocating to Carvoeiro. I'm moving in February.

If you guys take a look at the General section and go through the threads there is quite a lot of good advice on relocations.

Everything from car matriculation to taxes, health service questions, etc...

As for the fitness thing, i think it's a great idea. I don't think I've seen a fitness centre in Carvoeiro but I'm sure there must be one in Lagoa which isn't far.

Good luck to both of you and perhaps we'll meet when we are all residents next year!

I know a lot of people use the gym on Carvoeiro Club, where the tennis courts are. Also a lot of hotels will allow people to use there facilities, for a fee of course!
But there is nothing in the village itself.
There used to be one on the out road in the very last building, where the bike rental place is, but didn`t stay open long...I couldn`t say what happened to it.

Hi

I am moving to CVO in a few weeks too. I'm hoping to start up some yoga classes and maybe expand that. My hubby and I are into fitness too.

I don't know of anywhere else where there is a gym or anything.
