Banks diversifying

Post by ron5000 »

Had a call from the nice lady that looks after my pitiful account in BPI tonight at 6.00 which was slightly annoying as I was trying to listen to the in depth news on Kiss FM. Nice lady says good afternoon Mr 5000 would you like to buy some wine to which of course I replied, go on. She said it would be better for me to go in to the branch, I declined the kind offer of her companionship and asked what she was selling. Long and short of it is BPI are selling wine to their "preferential customers" at a knock down price of 245 euros, didn't get as far as per barrel or bottle. I said the obvious, are you a bank or wine merchant now, reply was a very nervous laugh and apology. I am thinking of moving my overdraft elsewhere

The other week the BPI tried to sell my husband a watch for over 4,000 €, he declined the offer and told them his one for 10€ from the Chinese shop was working very well.

In the days before Santander took over Banco Totta who were preceded by Banco Credito Predial - it was customary to be offered canteens of cutlery or fine glass in return for transferring balances from the UK and taking out insurance policies to cover all manner of menaces.

It seems they have had an overdue wake-up call :)
