Monte Servo - Break ins

Post by jonboy »

They are at again on Monte Servo Two burglaries within the last week during time at which houses were occupied. GNR suspect they are opportunists looking at easy targets when people are careless leaving windows / doors / gates open. GNR advise that these people cruise around during the day looking for when maids / pool men /are in the house as they often leave gates unlocked until they ready to leave which gives the opportunists time to have a nose around ahead of coming back at night.

Anyone who has a property up there be careful and ask your service providers and guests to be extra vigilant and lock up at all times.

More GNR patrols evident up and around that area now which is helpful.

i too have a villa on monte servo&have had numerous things stolen.the scumbags should get a frigging job&earn there money like the rest of us instead of poncing of people im sure they would be the 1st to kick off if they had their homes broken into or things stolen from their garden area.i have had the plastic sponge sun loungers covers stolen twice now so i have to lock them away when i go back to the uk,the solar lights stolen from the garden&they took 12 solar lights that were fitted around the edge of our decking,2xlanterns from the patio,2xpool thermometers out of the pool,2xgarden hoses that we had fastened to the wall for the garden.i would probably be banned from the site if i wrote what i would like to happen to theses low life *****!

Totally agree with all you say Alf - I would so dearly love to catch them at it. There is I believe a local guy who was hired by house owner up there to patrol around this area at night and was able to pass on some number plate info to the GNR who then caught a bunch of the ^%*$*$**$ 's with incriminating goods on their person or in their car. GNR do patrol up there in regular and unmarked cars so they are trying.....

Don,t always assume it the locals, we have friends who rent apartments and villas and many of the smaller items you list have " vanished " into guests suitcases.
Patio furniture has " gone home " in the back of cars to Spain or even further afield.
Neighbouring holiday makers have helped them selves to extra furniture or to replace broken items where they are staying.
Boxes of the owners possessions even when hidden away are opened up and items " lost ".
Sadly you just have to accept that petty theft is one of the downsides of absent property ownership.

For information to those who live in or around Monte Servo. There was a break in last week to one of the villas that was targeted last year. There was also an attempted forced entry earlier in the summer to another unoccupied villa but was thwarted due to the alarm system in place - I gather the GNR's arrival disturbed them. This area was a frequent target in the past but the increase in home owner’s security and GNR and Security Company patrols drastically reduced the number of incidents and I have noted more patrols in the past week. Please be extra vigilant and ensure properties are secured and don't be afraid to report or question those who are acting suspiciously.

Beware and careful of the fake charity collectors who knock on doors purporting to be working on behalf of children's homes. They have been doing the rounds this week and obviously get to know which houses are occupied/ rented ( rental cars outside or on drive ). Challenge them and say you will ring the charity they are working for and they soon beat a hasty retreat and drive off especially if take a photo of their car reg too..
