Well we are thinking of returning in March for our Anniversary if we can find a secure villa within easy walking distance of the centre! we tried the South of France this year it was ok

Has the break-in spree subsided

Of course if you are a victim of any crime its avery emotional experience but please get things in proportion, ther is more crime in the metropolitan police area than in all of Portugal.
I doubt that the levels in Carvoeiro even in high summer are even a fraction of those in a comparable UK holiday resort.
There are oportunists looking for tourists who are less than carefull. we have aholiday apartment which has not escaped but on each occaision it was those staying there who left windows open and who did not put valuables in the safe etc.
One of the reasons we live ( in the UK ) where we do now was the knowledge that an empty house even in a somerset village was an open invitation to the pondlife out there,
We have no fears as such for our property in Carvoeiro.

ADM is a hotspot, they keep an eye out on change overs days, Thursday & Saturday..wait for you to let yourself in, get settled..stash all your money in the safe..then you go out. They break in, with the lookout still ..er..looking out, they jemmy the safe off the wall..find all the "very sneaky" places you thought you were the first to think of, fake baked bean cans..in the fridge..wood stack..fire..you name it. Last time they brandished a knife at my mother. Now the bad news, if they ever get a good result, they return (dads done on a Thursday & following Monday twice now) Private security is what I am thinking..somebody start it I will buy it..once upon a time we even tried to catch them, lucky for them we didnt

Well done CM we do not live anywhere near ADM but you have done your fellow residents and owners a real favour by painting ADM as a hotspot of crime and violence.

Of course we all sympathise with you and your experiences but please keep a sense of proportion.

Hang on EMM! Six times in eight years is not a "brush under the carpet, gallic shrug" and with knives! better I say feck all? everybody goes on hiliday with one eye closed? Its a hotspot..plain and simple..not as bad as many, many places on this globe but for Carvoeiro its a hotspot..shall we just ignore the break-ins? Its not all about protecting reputations its about what happens.

It is a proven statistic that thieves return to a property once they have established that it is accessable..
Our own experience and observations are that Carvoeiro and the Algarve are cetainly a hell of a lot safer and more secure than the UK.

Youn obviously have strong feelings about the subject but please do not paint a picture that has liitle to do with reality.

Ok you are correct..the villa HAS NOT BEEN RAIDED.Your frankly ridiculous posture is sublime..reality? you mean like..er..facts? EMM what do you want me to report? all is well? I am not overly concerned with the "feelings" of those people who may be "offended" by my reports..but the villa has been targeted..ADM is a hotspot for villa crime..if I say it isnt so will it make it true? just dont get what you are after...
