Water meter law?

We've been told there's now a law in Portugal that all utility meters now have to be outside, visible to utility companies. Our water meter is inside so this means it needs to be moved. Is this a new law? Does anyone know anything about it?

Hardly a new one - think it's been in since early 00's for new properties. Dont knw about retrospective fitting - doubt they could enforce that?
