An update on the story of what happened when, after a last minute holiday to the Algarve in 2002, two generations of the Nottingham-based Fyfe family decided to quit their jobs, sell up their homes, and buy a small English-style bar restaurant which they had seen was up for sale. Their first season in business taught them that them how difficult it was going to be to work out who was in charge, and how easy it was for the two generations to end up at loggerheads. But, after three months, the bar was making money and the family seemed to be adapting to their Portuguese lifestyle.
Four years on and the business is thriving, with Simon and Mandy enjoying a very comfortable life in their adopted homeland. However the family hasn't survived as well as the bar, as grandparents Graham and Sue have returned to Britain and are back in their old jobs. [S]
