IMI Tax

Could someone tell me if IMI tax is paid in April for the year. We have been asked for an amount X 2. Dont know if this is for both my husband and I or for the April and September amounts. Is IMI tax paid per person or per property. This is the first time we have had a bill as we are new owners. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sanreen,
IMI is paid twice a year in April and September. If your property is in joint names you will both receive a bill, so you can both pay your share.

Thanks for your reply. Another question, sorry, is IMI tax paid in advance or arrears. Could someone explain how I can work out how much my tax should be for an apartment in Carvoeiro.

I'm also about to pay it for the first time and the information I had from my solicitor says it's in arrears
