CVO and the Alfa train

Post by daved »

I have just returned from my hols in the Algarve. 1st week CVO 2nd week somewhere else  . After spending time in somewhere else I know why I prefer CVO, its great.

I use MC and like the short distance to the town, bars, resturantes etc. the atmosphere, the people , everything is just great.

I took the Alfa train to Lisbon for the day and experienced the best train ride I have ever had, just as good as the old steam days in UK.

I advise anyone using it to have a meal on the way back. A plate full of pork, spuds and the trimmings plus coffee and cold beer all for 13 euros.
and excellent service.

The train reaches 250 kms/hr and is as smooth as a Babies b--t-m.
The trip costs 40 euros 1st class.

I can't wait for Oct. when I come back for second helpings.

PS my golf was arranged by Richard Ballington and I must congratulate him on organising a trouble free week of golf. :x

Your train trip sounds very interesting.

Was that 40 euros return daved?

Where did you buy your train ticket and catch the train?

Thanks.

Yes, it was 40 euros return. :D
I caught the train at Albufura at 0700 hence i got my ticket there. For CVO the best station is Tunes.
It arrives Lisbon 0930. But remember to ask for Entricampos station or it will take you to Oriente which is like going to Earls court for the west end.

You can use the metro to Chiado which is close to the old town.

The train comes back at 1715 ish arriving tunes around 1950

Have a nice trip :D

you always can catch a train from Oriente to Entrecampos if you really want to go to Entrecampos... but with the underground it doesn't really take that long to get to the town centre, does it?
