Smell around the square

Post by Panda »

Can anyone advise what the cause of a strong smell like sewers around the square is. Friends visiting our apartment reported this to us on their return. They wanted to eat near the beach but found the smell unbearable. I expect Martin's and O Patio are suffering if this is still going on. Does anyone know whether it has been sorted yet?

:? They are still doing 'works' to the sewerage system in Carvoeiro, with a large area fenced off right on the beach front where the stage used to be, it was meant to be finished by now but unfortunately the work is still going on. Some days are better than others but I expect with the hotter weather it is only going to get worse.

Lets hope they finish it very soon.

What with the " smells " in CVO and the roadworks in Albufeira the " powers than be " are obviously goi ng out of their way to make the algarve the palce to visit in 2006/7/8 or when ever they finally finish.

 Yes lets hope they get it sorted before long. I don't know the reason why it is so delayed (it was meant to be finished by the spring, before the 'tourist season') I do know that the owners of the cafes and restaurants are not at all happy :(

Still not done???

I was there for the month of February during cooler weather and I did notice the smell of raw sewage as well. I thought by now the project would have been fininshed. Should I "hold my breath" (no pun intended) that it will be finished by next February? :o

Yikes!
I go on the 1st of July and it'll be my first visit to Portugal so I hope they are finished by then as it will certainly put me off my food. :(
Not a good impression for those new to the area. Fingers crossed. :)

This has been a very complicated and ambitous drainage work that has taken some time longer that first meant to be. Nobody wants it still to be not finished and it is not done to annoy people but to make better. All the local people hope it will be finished soon too but think there has been some delay but work had to be done. When finished it will benefit all. The pipes have been put all the way through village to Mato Serrão and further. Still plenty to enjoy in Carvoeiro for tourist and local people

We were out last week and spent a few hours in the square on different days and there was no smell. I think the main work has now been completed and we saw they were re laying the tiles. Only a matter of days with luck.
