Golf societies

Post by Ian »

I have just come back from Spain (Almeria) and seen the vast difference in the price of golf compared with courses on the Algarve. Courses are cheaper and as good but, the reduced price was brought about in the main to being able to join a society set up by people (mainly brits) living there. It cost me 15 euro to join and I got about about 30% or more off the normal price. Also I was able to play in their comps.
I know there are booking agencies which offer discount golf but I found the society friendly and I was playing with golfers, not joined up with hackers (no disrespect intended).
I know about golf for greys but that is more for the very regular visitor, I am a twice a year visitor.
Are there any societies around Carvoeiro please? If so how do I go about joining if that is allowed.
Thanks,
Ian.

Ian, see blurb below, nothing to join but a round costs about 45 euros.

Our local Golf Society, based at the Mungo's Bar (on the right going up restaurant hill in Carvoeiro) is now holding weekly competitions on Saturday mornings at the nearby Morgado Golf Club.
With it's brand new entrance now complete off Junction 5 on the A22 Motorway, the course is now within 15mins drive of Carvoeiro.
Anyone interested in joining us for a game can contact me by email algarve.golf@mail.telepac.pt or phone (00 351) 282 493263

Played Morgado last weds ( old course ) , really enjoyed it course very green and lush ( virtually impossible to find ball in rough ), loved the par 5,s.
Assume very different proposition in summer.
Must play again to get revenge on wife who took me to the cleaners.

No, seriously, if you wear a polo shirt with a collar, reasonably smart shorts & short socks you will have no problem. :)
