Information needed on the Gale area

Post by Guest »

I am travelling to Gale in 4 weeks & can't find any information on the area, I know this area is not exactly on your doorstep, but I can't find any info anywhere. Does anyone know of any websites or have any information that might be of use?? There are 2 families sharing a villa, with 5 children between us ages ranging from 8 up to 15. The grown-ups are well catered for as we have a pool and a fridge( for the drink!!!!!!) Many thanks, and congrats on the website, it has been a pleasure looking through it[/color[/b]

Hi There,

Unfortunately I cannot think of a known url regarding the gale area. I have been there two years ago and had a splendid holiday. Gale is @ best described to be a suburb of albufeira. The village itself is from most directions close to the lovely beach. There are quite a few restaurants in the direct area. At night it is not a very lively place but Albufeira is just a 15 minutes drive away from the village. Gale is a rather new village without a history of its own. However it is the perfect chill-out place!

Have a nice holiday!

I spent a week in this area about 3 years ago just on the road down to the beach. We got a lot of road noise with locals tearing up and down but all in all in was very nice otherwise. We found that to get to supermarkets etc you would definately need a car.

I've been to Galé a number of times. It is a fairly quiet place with several restaurants down by Galé beach. In that area there are quite a few beaches - Castelo, Sao Rafael, Coelho and there is a lovely fish restaurant called Evaristo which is right on Evaristo beach. Five minutes from Castelo beach is a bar called Scooby's which has a very large pool, sunbeds, a tennis court, an outside pool table, bouncy castle and serves food all day. It's a good place to spend the day and the kids loved it. There are a couple of supermarkets called Ali Super where you can get your basic shopping for your stay. If you wanted you could get a taxi to Algarve Shopping which is an outdoor shopping centre about 10 minutes away and that has a hypermarket plus of course the usual shops you would find. If you wanted to go into Albufeira it's about a 10-15 minute taxi journey but I wouldn't recommend it, it´s like Blackpool with sunshine unless you stick to the old town. I would say that you should definitely hire a car for your stay as Galé is fairly spread out. Hope this is of some help.

I agree with all of the above post those beaches are great. Also so many people think of Albufeira as being 'the strip' from the Montechoro Hotel down to Praia D' Oura (which is quite a nice beach in it's self). This is not Albufeira. The town of Albufeira is a good place to be.

Was on Galé beach last Saturday. Great! Very nice upgraded beach bar/restaurant just along the beach direction of Armacão (west) with sun beds windbreaks and all the gear. Very good water sports available, jet skis, pedalos, parasailing, banana boat, tubes (bring your cash!)

All in all very pleasant indeed.
