I see that the portuguese plan to buy some russian fire fighting aircraft (just after the portuguese ...russian summit about increasing trade...what an amazing coincidence)...anyway I wonder if this is a good idea????

for example...years ago the russians built and paid for a new hospital in uganda..within a few years it was useless..since all the equipment was russian and no spare parts could be obtained

apart from some local russian shops selling vodka here..what else does russia make and sell.....ermmm...ermmmm...you know cant think of a thing

I must agree with you, it is somewhat difficult to really find what Russia is actually producing these days.

Actually they do aircraft, lots of them. Russians are terribly good at aircraft.
Also a lot of clothing and a dandy line in nuclear reactors. Oh and guns and stuff.

Bizarre idea about a hospital becoming 'useless' because some equipment has broken down. I think the people who are running it are supposed to budget for replacement kit. Things do break you know.

May I respectfully refer you to various reports in the media and on the internet with regard the actual economy of Russia. I also have a nephew who up to fairly recently on a regular basis was visting Russia.

With regard your comments on the Portuguese Hospital, whilst I do not disagree with what you say. However, it would appear that you do not live here in the Algarve as you would not make such comment, as sadly such a situation more often than not is par for the course in Portugal

ref hospital becoming useless...often hospitals are built around equipment...for example all electrical wiring ..fuse boards...when they wrong particuraly russian stuff --where is the stuff to replace them?
