I was in the Jailhouse last week and there was an excellent couple of musicians accompanying Bobby. Does anyone know who they are? One was I think called John.

Ah yes - this is Eric from the Candelabras who has peformed in the Jailhouse for the past few years or so. The musician you refer to is John Clare - he is a professional who has played recently with Lonnie Donegan who sadly passed away in 2002 and before that with the Bruvvers (Joe Brown). I have met and played with Pete Oakman (also with Lonnie and Joe) and his son Steve , both very talented and wonderful guys.

The other guy you refer to is either Bobby Stardust (who owns the bar and is one of my best friends) or Ray the guitarist whom I have not yet met.

As it happens my alter ego in the Candelbras - Alan - will be in Carvoeiro on August 22 for 10 days so you should catch him in the Jailhouse then. Don't miss him if you are there!

I will be landing on the 8th September for a week and will almost certainly be in the Jailhouse dispensing my own personal brand of humour, singing and wild sexy guitar playing. As some of you know I have been suffering from a bad back for almost a year but this has not stopped me from being a wild sex object who has to try and run away from predatory females. As it happens I will be taking my most recent lady love (Ann) with me so I should be safe from the advances of the fairer sex.

However as we all now nothing is certain in this life!

Al and myself have discussed our international name and are considering renaming ourselves the 'Love Pumps' - courtesy of Spinal Tap - I would be grateful for any comments on the suitability of this name bearing in mind the nature of Bobby's bar.

Finally I hope that I will meet some of my old friends whom I have not seen for some years.

I hope that Clare from London is reading this - I didn't phone you back as I promised but often think of you. Please put a note on the website to let me know you are still out there.

I'm looking forward to some wild rocking in September - don't let me down!!

There was a good band performing in the square Castelo (???) who were also very entertaining. Can't beat the old timers!!

So, my sparring partner has been let loose on the forum once again!

I agree one of the guitarists you mention will almost certainly be John Clare but perhaps the other chap could also be 'Joel' a Portuguese musician who often appears at the Jailhouse with Bobby and is also a very accomplished player.

As Eric pointed out in his posting I shall be over in Carvoeiro from the 22nd August and I’m looking forward to seeing some old friends and making new ones too!

Not sure about that name Eric people may get the wrong idea about us – yeah right! I still like The `Stiff Tissues` though it has an air of mystery to it don’t you think?

Oh well, must get my bags packed – see you all soon.

Hi, glad your back is better at last. I arrive on 8th Sept too so will see you there. If its the same Clare I think it is (sand between the toes!!!!!!!) then I have her phone no and email address although I haven't been in touch for a while. If you pm me I will pass on info. Al and Kate have just got back and said the heat was almost unbearable so I won't be wearing socks with my sandals. Ah I remember that night on the beach with you and Clare!

Had a great time and thanks to everyone there - old friends & new
nice to meet John & Ray - resident Jailhouse muso's - sorry about the last night lads but Bobby wouldn't let me off stage and kept pouring Madronia down my neck, not a good combination

Sorry we missed you Susan, but I'm sure you won't be dissapointed with Eric (Guitar playing!).

Ah well, I'm back in the UK after a wonderful week in Carvoeiro and a few nights up at the Jailhouse. I had a wonderful time as usual and a special hello to Sue whom I haven't seen for a while (and looked lovely). I was hoping to do a few songs but my backing tracks wouldn't work so I was a bit peeved - anyway managed to get up and play a few songs with Bobby and Ray. Its like home from home over there. Got off the plane at Humberside airport and it was cold and raining - just what you need when you get back off holiday! Anyway managed to get up to Edlinas in Monchique for the best Chicken Piri Piri in the world, had a bifana in Lagoa from the market (wonderful) and a cataplana at Jota Litas so I was very happy. I am currently enjoying a glass of Maciera which is why this message is so rambling!

Love to all and hope to see you all again - maybe the New Year - who's going?
