Local Golf Courses

Post by Lee&Steve »

Can anyone offer any advice on the local golf courses. We are three families visiting Carvoeiro for the first time this year and are hoping to play a few rounds of golf.

According to the web site there are three local courses, Vale da Pinta, Quinta do Gramacho and Vale de Milho.

Are these course difficult to get onto, expensive and do we need to show handicap cards? We will have a couple of youngsters with us (12 and 14) who we'd like to take round.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Lee.

Lee/Steve,

I am a member of Vale de Pinta & Gramacho, yes you will be asked for your handicap. Booking a round will be no problem as its not that busy. With regard to price at the moment the costs is 50 & 45 euro's respectively, there is an offer for " Twilight Golf" from 4.30pm and that would cost 30 or 20 euro's
Vale de Milho is a small pretty Par 3 course, I have only played it once, its good for the short game. No idea of price.

Enjoy

Dear Sue,

Sorry to disagree but I am also a member at Gramacho/Pinta and have not yet seen anyone asked for a handicap certificate - if they did this causes me concern since I often have friends from the UK to stay who are good golfers but cannot afford to be a member of any Surrey club, and therefore do not have an official certificate

When have you seen certificates inspected? Is it at check in or by the starter?

I would be grateful for your feedback

Graham

P.S. Having watched an enourmous number of golfers take five, six or even seven shots out of the bunkers in front of the eighteenth on Gramacho I cannot believe that they are all under 27 handicap or whatever the maximum currently allowed is!

Golf Courses

Post by Ian.m »

We stayed in Carvoeiro last year and played at Vale de Milho which was ideal- small par 3 course but some good challenges and in Very good condition. Ideal for us as we had 2 - 11 year olds with us, still learning and they had a great time. Bought a 5 round ticket and generally could play at anytime not busy at all.

We are staying there this year too but are going to take in Pinta and Boavista (20 mins away) which have been reccommended to us. For good deals to book these courses in advance - see www.algarve-golf.co.uk Richard is very helpful and lots of info on the courses.

Hope this helps

Graham, I agree, players are not always asked to produce a valid handicap certificate, However, I have seen people asked at reception check-in for their handicaps.
We also play in the October Festival and have done for many years, also I have seen our own members turned away for not wearing the correct attire.
All I can say is "Be Warned "Be warned

depending on when you are out there, we run a golf day for all ages and handicaps at pinta and gramacho, good day of golf, and big family meal afterwards at our restaurant.sam
