Cable

I have done a search and I can't find the info I am looking for about this. I am interested in getting cable, mainly for the internet and wondered how it compared with broadband from PT/Sapo or whoever. I find the download limits a bit of a problem and wondered whether you got any more through cable. I didn't want to pay the earth either. Can anyone advise what you get for your money?

And do all companies that provide internet insist on a 12 month contract?

I'm currently paying Sapo €34,99 (I believe) for a 512 connection.
