Can someone tell me if Dec 8th is a bank holiday in Portugal and if so is anything open shopwise ?

Yes 8th Dec is a Bank Holiday but most things in coastal resorts stay open - also it is getting towards Christmas and retailers dont want to miss any trade

Intermarche and Continente are both open on 1st and 8th Dec (both bank holidays).
