selling my carobs

have picked the trees and going to the factory in messines to sell them....will advise soon on this years price for a measure (think its called aruba ...about 15 kilos????)

Yes. 1 arroba is 15 KG.

well went to the factory in messines....doors locked and they have gone!!!!i
I asked about 4 people what happened and i got the usual full reply i.e the shrug of the shoulders!!!

anyway manged to find another factory also in messines...they took the 160 kilos....they weighed them on weighbridge..after unloading .went to office and have to go back in 2 weeks for cheque...expect about 5 euros per arruba...so will be getting about 50 euros....now i can plan my round the world cruise

Carobs are those long bean like pods that hang from trees and litter the ground where they turn black. Sometimes known as the locust bean it is used in the UK to flavour cattle feed. In Portugal its used to make a liqueur in the same way as the fig based medrohno.
Herse's an interesting site from Cyprus with some facts on the Carob tree including its use as a chocolate substitute.

not only drink or cattlem feed its also used as a basis for chocolate....our dogs luv to eat them as it is like chocolate ...plus there are many other uses of the beans in medicine and other food stuffs...it is said that the bean because of its uniform weight was the measurement used for weighing diamonds...hence 22 carot (or carobs)
