Even if you discount Michael Moore's tendency to exagerate, it is still a very insightful and scary documentary. I can second biffa's recomendation.

yes also saw..only 6 other people in cinema which was sad...also worth a look is "roger and me" and bowling for columbine also both by mm.

what is interesting is how this "backward country" the usa still uses farenheight....i must admit farenheight i still prefer..it means a lot more when you say its 120 farenheight...what on earth is a celius anywhere..some star thats gone wrong..yes maybe farenheight rule forever along with as we know here in portugal 3/4 inch and 1/2 tap fittings!!!!!

If you are going to argue about temperature scales you should really use Kelvin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin

BTW, we have got 302 K in the Algarve at the moment :D :D :D

Fahrenheit 9/11
"One of the most controversial and provocative films of the year, Fahrenheit 9/11 is Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore's searing examination of the Bush administration's actions in the wake of the tragic events of 9/11.
With his characteristic humor and dogged commitment to uncovering the facts, Moore considers the presidency of George W. Bush and where it has led us. He looks at how - and why - Bush and his inner circle avoided pursuing the Saudi connection to 9/11, despite the fact that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis and Saudi money had funded Al Qaeda. Fahrenheit 9/11 shows us a nation kept in constant fear by FBI alerts and lulled into accepting a piece of legislation, the USA Patriot Act, that infringes on basic civil rights. It is in this atmosphere of confusion, suspicion and dread that the Bush Administration makes its headlong rush towards war in Iraq - and Fahrenheit 9/11 takes us inside that war to tell the stories we haven't heard, illustrating the awful human cost to U.S. soldiers and their families." http://www.fahrenheit911.com

Unfairenheit 9/11
"To describe this film as dishonest and demagogic would almost be to promote those terms to the level of respectability. To describe this film as a piece of crap would be to run the risk of a discourse that would never again rise above the excremental. To describe it as an exercise in facile crowd-pleasing would be too obvious. Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice masking itself as a demonstration of "dissenting" bravery." http://slate.msn.com/id/2102723

I checked Imdb for some independent opinions and stumbled across this little gem:

http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysi ... it-911.htm

So everybody lies.
The results of the Bush administrations actions are irrefutable proof that he has to go. If Moore had to stick to the truth (as in what was not concealed or blacked out or perversed by the Washington spin doctors) he would not have been able to make such an accurate depiction of Bush's inability to rule. In essence he is using the same methods to uncover as politicians use to cover.

An interesting challenge would be:
Name positive aspects of the Bush administration.

Ok, I shall hit you with a stick for a long time. After a while, you will hit me back. At that point I shall declare you a terrorist.
To make the scenario more realistic, you will hit me with a stick that I gave you in the first place so that you would hit someone else I didn't like at the time.

Is that why 9/11 happened? Do you think America may have deserved it?

They did their part in provoking - one of the questions the movie brings up is, did they do enough to prevent it?

Well last night I saw "Bowling for Columbine" and it illustrates "the fear" that Americans live in on a day-to-day basis. Whether one believes all of Michael Moore's facts, he still presents an in-depth and compelling look at modern american society.

Here's a quote from his website: http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/latestnews/
Here in 2004, George W. Bush is running for reelection on a platform of tragedy—the single greatest failure of national defense in our history, the attacks of 9/11 in which 19 men with box cutters put this nation into a tailspin, a failure the details of which the White House fought to keep secret even as it ran the country into hock up to the hubcaps, thanks to generous tax cuts for the well-fixed, hoping to lead us into a box canyon of debt that will render government impotent, even as we engage in a war against a small country that was undertaken for the president’s personal satisfaction but sold to the American public on the basis of brazen misinformation, a war whose purpose is to distract us from an enormous transfer of wealth taking place in this country, flowing upward, and the deception is working beautifully.
