the 3rd of september is the big day when silves camara announce its plans for the river side developement...today the poster board are hiden but tommorow all will be revealed.

Let us know what they are planning to do. I do hope it will not spoil the charm of Silves, I think it is one of the prettiest cities in the Algarve and would hate to see a modern development going up near the river, it would spoil the place, I think.

wiill do..had a sort of sneek look just before the covering sheets went up...usual apartments of course but did seem to be some greenery and park planned..so let us hope that silves camara have learned their lesson from the biggest dump inthe algarve..ie armacao de pera...i heard when the pm of portugal recently pased thru it he was appallled and said they should stop building high rise..well hope ever springs eternal!!!!!

no no teasing the opening for tenders for work begins tommorrow.

remenber silves many many years ago was more beautiful than seville ...that is until 17....something when it was devasted by an earthquake

It would be such a shame to spoil such a pretty place, I do hope they are not going to build in that area. it needs tidying up a bit. but nothing drastic please!!

Hi guest ..not trying to argue with you but not sure i agree with you about armacao..lot of the new build seems to be brightening up the image..not sure how much of the old stuff would have been worth keeping by the look of what is still there..id be more then interested in any further comments you might have,

Yes it is Silves Municipal Holiday today.

One nice point is that a city in the north, Ponte de Lima I think it was, organised fund raising following last years fires and are presenting Silves Bombeiros today with the keys to a new fire engine.

I didn't want to frighten anyone going to Lisbon but what I posted was an extract from a genuine report stating that current plate movements tend to show the likelihood of a quake in the Lisbon are increased.

Wouldn't stop me going though!!

saw the boards today..the area next to river will be a carpark in centre with much landscaping such as cherry tree orchard etc...looks very nice plu s new i think bus station on football side of road

phase two which is in between the pool and the fisul centre will comprise a small marina , a health running track plus a lot of attractive landscaping.

and wonder oh wonder not a single apartment block on view
