Month by month internet service

Post by snowbirds »

Does anyone know of an internet provider where I can get unlimited wireless service on a month to month basis? I require it for only four months of the year. Previously I was with Worldcom (Euro 30 per month) but they are no longer in business, and I cannot find another company providing a similar service - however my Portuguese is very limited! Any help will be much appreciated.

If it's any help we got a payg meo sim and used it with a E5330 dongle, it cost us 10 euros for the sim, and then 15 euros for
a addon that gave us 100hrs of internet use, obviously once you used that allowance up it was another 15 euros for 100hrs.
I know you were looking for unlimited use but this done us and we could not fault the speed's we were getting.

I have been using a Vodafone Mifi unit - should give 25 mps but actual is 8-11. Cost is 25.99/mth with unlimited data - you can use it or stop for whenever you are here. I use it in conjunction with either tvpc (FREE) which gives BBC and ITV ok, or TELLYPASS (US5.99/mth) which gives me access to all catch up tv and access to Sky (inc Sky sports) if you have a sky subscription + username + password. Last week we watched the grand prix live on both systems to compare - tvpc kept stalling every 10 mins, but Tellypass (on Skygo) was fine

There is now a company in Portugal that rents Wifi hotspots, and sells prepaid data SIM cards, specifically to tourists and non-Portuguese residents, that don't require any contract.

Traffic options goes from 1GB to unlimited.
They are called Portugal Internet, and you can find them at http://www.portugalinternet.com

Our daughter has 3 children and each have an ipad - that's where we were told about it when we saw them using it at our villa in conjunction with the Vodafone mifi. Works very well especially with Skygo if you have a sky subscription - you can use up to 5 additional units, so they had their 3 ipads and we used it on a laptop which we plugged into the any of the TV's.
