A bit of advice please!
I'm looking to book the car hire for our 2 weeks in Carvoeiro in July.
I've had a quote from algarve driver for 800 euro's (£534.16) as a lot of people on this forum recommend them.
I've looked backed through previous posts and found a recommendation from Sandy for a company called EconomyCarHire.com so I contacted them for a comparison and they have quoted £438.00.
£100 difference is quite alot! Am I missing something. Is it something to do with the insurance cover?
I don't want to book the cheaper one and then find there are extras to pay on collection.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Car Hire
Mansie........There are various extras you can pay on top of the basic car hire price. Some of these are:
a. Baby Seats
b. Collision damage waiver (An extra amount per day to have the excess waivered) i.e. The excess if you had an accident could be say, 500 Euros. If you took out the additional insurance, you wouldn't have to pay this if you had an accident/bump etc.
c. Additional drivers. Obviously cheaper for you if there's only one declared driver.
d. Air-conditioning. Car hire companies rocket upwards with a car having aircon. They have a captive audience in Jun/Jul/Aug for obvious reasons. You definitely need it though !!
All I can say is ask what both of these companies are including in their prices you were quoted. Balance out from there - You are right though to be cautious with the cheaper company !
Cheers and hope you get a good deal.

Mansie why not compare both and if there is a real difference go back to algarve driver and ask them to match or beat this price...i,ll gladly vouch for the quality of their service but as you say a 100 quid is a hundred quid,...i,ll bet nobody wants to turn away buisness for the sake of a few bob.....and you never know if the other crowd are any good we might all give them a turn ...if you get my drift

Car Hire
I have used economycarhire.com for my last four trips back to CVO, and can recommend them. The cars are quite new, and I have had no problems at all with them. The price is all inclusive and includes full insurance, with no extras for any bumps or scrapes you may pick up during your rental. Things like tyre damage is extra, but this is normal for all car hire companies I believe.
Hope this helps you.

Hello Mansie
.
Zitauto@clix.pt will giveyou a good price. They are a smallish company who havew cars at the airport. They charge 190 Euros per week for a small car (punto, clio, corsa), with aircon and 290 Euros for a renault scenic or Astra estate car. The collision damage waiver is 30/week and 50/week respectively. They do not charge extra for additional drivers.
We always use them and if you ask, they will give you a 10% discount for paying cash.

Please forward your quotes to webmaster@carvoeiro.com and I'll have a look - such a big price difference shouldn't be possible!
The local firm is Alcar Expresso. They are in the Estrada do Farol, just beyond the bank(Credito Predial), on the right side going out of town. They are very nice people, and my impression is that their prices are competitive. Mr Sousa is the manager. If anybody needs more information, they can send me a Personal Message.

mansie
Thanks to everyone for thier advice - it was very helpful.
I have decided to go with Algarve Driver as they have agreed to match the lower price that I was quoted so I have saved myself £100.
Steen - Not too sure how to "copy and paste" (bit too technical for me!!)but once I've worked it out I will be confirming the booking. Thanks very much for your help.
Four weeks today and counting!!
