Runways are currently closed at Heathrow Airport.

It has been reported that there was a fire on board a British Airways plane this morning. Passengers have safely been evacuated from the plane.

I have just watched the report on BBC news, one of the things that shocked me were the pictures of the passengers leaving the plane.
There were as you would expect some in shirtsleeves and jackets but also some ( women ) carrying large bags.
One of the instructions given when leaving a plane in an emergency situation is to leave everything behind and to get off a quickly as you can and not disrupt the process by carrying bags coats etc.
Some may remember the Manchester fire when it was said that had some pasengers not stopped to get bags , duty free etc more would have survived .

They seem to be the same people I seem to find driving on our roads these days ! !

I just hope I'm never on a plane that gets diverted to Stanstead.
