Dog walking
Dog walking
Hi
We are driving down next week and bringing our two dogs with us as staying for 10 weeks.
I was wondering if anyone has local knowledge of good, safe ,places to take the dogs for walks that are not too far afield.
We have walked at Algar Seco and the cliffs at Rocha Brava, Clube Atlantico area in previous years and have done the back roads at Vale de Milho towards Poco Partido and back towards the village (although some pavements not great there) but as we are going to be there for some weeks was looking for a bit more variety and maybe somewhere with a bit more space, maybe a beach that we could use early in the morning for a run about with them ( are dogs allowed on any beaches at this time of year ? )
Don't mind driving for a short distance but as we are coming from Scotland think the dogs will have had enough of the car by the time we arrive !
Thanks
Carolyn

Re: Dog walking
Sitio dos Fontes just past Estombar on the back road to Silves might be a good bet but I don't know if dogs are allowed off leads. They shouldn't goon the beach but that doesn't seem to stop them. The rough area where the new marina is planned at Ferragudo might be ok but with all the fly campers, there might be glass and tin about.
Re: Dog walking
The cliffs above Caneiros is a good area to walk and dogs are allowed on the beach before April. Walking toward Carvoeiro there are 2 little beaches that dos can go on, though one is accessible only at low tide and the other only by a ladder. My husband carries our dogs down. Also, the cliffs around Albandeira are excellent for walkin and you can find little hidden beaches for the dogs.
