I was surprised to read about the pantomine. I always thought this quintessentially British - but it appears I am wrong. Mind you, they love their circuses so perhaps a panto isn't that unexpected.

The panto is very British, those we know who have been to past productions say it is just as good as any village hall production complete with wobbly scenery , local expat eccentricts etc.
Great fun if you do not take it too seriously.

Another good newsletter, I look forward to reading them every month.

Does anyone take pantomime seriously? Would kind of defeat the purpose I'd have thought.

I love watching AmDram, often hysterically funny. Though I have had to leave more than once because I couldn't stop laughing.

We went to a local production of Carmen, we have no idea where they got the costunes from , the male lead looked as if he was wearing a pink velour babygrow.
The Knife fight at the end was a fiasco as they had rubber knives with very bendy blades.
Being " Opera " half the audience was taking it very seriously, the rest of us were choking back the giggles.
Panto is different the worse it is the funnier it can be.
