New years eve 2011

Looks like we will be coming out for a few days over new year. I don't want to get a taxi if I can help it so would prefer to do something in the village as it's easy to walk from the nottom end of solferias. Anyone got recommendations?

Just want to see the new year in, food, music and dancing is preferred, but not a night club as we are 50 and the other couple 75. I await your experienced advice.

House warming could involve a bit of landscape gardening first otherwise you may all be too cold in the villa.

I have been to O Cantinho for new years eve a few times, its a nice night, makes it fun.

The big hotels , golf clubs and some upmarket developments hold gala evenings on New Year and charge accordingly.
Carvoeiro itself is low key compared to other resorts such as Lagos, Albufeira and Pria Da Rocha/Portimao.
Usually you have to wait until Oct/November to find out what is going on.

OK, well we are back in a month for a couple of nights so maybe we need to check things out. I would prefer to walk from near the foot of Solferias, rather than get a taxi. We have been to Bon Bons on a Friday evening, although never anywhere in CVO for new year. Has anyone else been there for NY?

We've been out to CVO a couple of times for New Year (about 3 & 4 years ago though!!).

We had a ball!! I think we ate at A Gale then had a mooch around the bars - Smilers, Sully's, CVO Bar, Brady's, Round Up etc etc - As i said it was 3-4 years ago, but we had great times. We were even talking a few nights ago about going back, but unfortunatley we cant do it this New Year.

We were on the beach most days (my daughter even went in the sea!!!)- not scorching hot, but very pleasant - it did go cool around 4ish though, just in time to pop into smilers for a couple of beers!!!

I remember town being quiet, with some of the restaurants not even open, but there was still plenty to go at!

Unfortunatley we've had our time in CVO this year (2 weeks at the end of May / Start June) - once again had a ball - but thought it was quieter than it has been before - not too sure if everyone is being careful & staying at home this year.

Anyway, if you get out there for New Year, I'm sure you will have a great time!! - Have a beer or two for me in Hemmingways & the Black Stove!!!!!

Lotte thanks for that we have actually booked 30 Dec-4 January with friends in our new villa - well we hope so as we are moving in the furniture on 25 November - we are of course assuming the builders would have the doors and windows in by then. Toes and fingers all crossed.

Licy one thing you must do before moving in is the ensure that your water and electricity are switched from the builder to your account. If not you may find as we did that you arrive to find that both have been disconnected.
Yoor solicitor should be able to help you do this.
