beer prices supermarket
beer prices supermarket
Hi all,
We're returning to the algarve this year and weighing up whether to buy a barrel of super-bock
Or buy a couple of cases of bottled. Can anyone advise how much a case of bottled super bock is .
A 30 litre barrel is currently working out at approx 1.5 euros a litre
Thanks
Snaj

Re: beer prices supermarket
I love the holiday dilemas, this is a good one! so 0.85 cents per pint? 53 pints per keg...that has to be the cheapest way but bottles can be kept cold? does the keg come with its own cooling system?
Re: beer prices supermarket
Hi CM,
Yes, there is a cooling system for the barrel. In fact we'll be able to pull pints.
.
.85 cents for a pint sounds good to me, but I am just weighing up if it is significantly cheaper to get bottles.
(I prefer drinking out of bottles.)
I wish all my dilemmas were this simple!!

Re: beer prices supermarket
just got back and a bottle of super bock was €1.63 so i guess your barrel is about €45 and 30 1 litres is €48.90
not much in it, unless i got my maths well wrong.

Re: beer prices supermarket
were do you buy the cooled barrels from?
Re: beer prices supermarket
All,
Sorry. The cost of a 30 l barrel is 86 euros. So I got my maths wrong.
Not sure where it can be bought as it is being kindly provided by the owners .

Re: beer prices supermarket
This is the type of conversation we need
best we saw was tray 24 x 330ml tins of superbock and sagres 6.99 euros!! that was on offer in the supermarket used to be Modello now called Pau de Sucar if the spelling is correct...its in lagoa on road to slide and splash, they always seem to have a great offer check on left as you enter or over far left in the beer section....no real ale though!!

Re: beer prices supermarket
Try Tergal from Pingo Doce near the lagoa roundabout - 89c a litre - its also only 4.5% so you dont fall over as quickly as with superbok.

snaj1 - that's only 2 and a bit litres per day - hope the rest are bringing their own!
Re: beer prices supermarket
HRich,
Better still I am going to be charging the rest 2.5 euros a litre.
My drinking ability has declined with age, marriage and kids.. but I should manage 2.5 l a day, plus sardines ,wine,Bbq ....
