Dockers should spend more

In a recent interview, the Governor of the bank of Portugal Carlos Costa, stated that tourists on a 3 day trip to Lisbon would generate more income to the state, than a group of London Dock Workers would in a week in the Algarve.

Is this guy for real, or is he yet another in this country who is still living decades behind the times?

Somebody needs to inform this out of touch idiot that the London dock area closed some 30 years ago and is now one of the wealthiest business areas of not only London but Europe. Not to mention that most of the worlds major banks have either their Head Office or European Head office in Canary Wharf. You would think that the former Vice President of the European Investment Bank and now Portugal's most senior banking statesman would know this - obviously not. Having said that, this is the same man who has stated in the past, that Portugal and Portuguese banks were immune from the global financial crisis!!!, and that Portugal will not suffer the same as Greece Italy Spain and Ireland in the future, and only two days ago stated that Portugal could solve it's internal financial pressures without external assistance. We will see.

So come on you Canary Wharf docklands workers who take holidays in the Algarve each year, spend your hard earned bonuses and help sort out this countries problems.
