Problems logging onto the forum

A couple of friends have emailed saying they cannot log onto the forum! Something to do with the DNS or DLS (not sure which). Apparently there have been problems all day. I haven't had any - has anyone else?

Also, any suggestions for those locked out?

Yes - but refresh a couple of times and it is fine again.

Sharen is downstairs on her lap top and she can't get on. Even refresh doesn't make a difference. It tells her the site is unavailable else doesn't exist!

Yeah - mine says that, then I press F5 a couple of times and suddenly it comes back again.

Nope, nothing Sharen does works. What I don't understand is why am I able to get on and she isn't? We are both using the same router.

There have been some changes to the DNS server and you might need to bypass the page cached in your browser;

Internet Explorer

* To reload a page and bypass the cache:
o either: Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.
o or: Hold the Ctrl key and click the Refresh button on the toolbar.


Mozilla family

This includes Firefox, Netscape Navigator (versions 6.x and 7.x) and SeaMonkey.

* To reload a page and bypass the cache:
o either: Hold down both the Ctrl and Shift keys and then press R. (Alternatively, hold down the Ctrl key and then press F5.) On a Mac, use the Command key instead of Ctrl.
o or: Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.


Safari

* To reload a page and bypass the cache:
o for version 4 and newer:
o Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload toolbar button.
o for version 3 and older:
o Hold down the Command key, and press R. This kind of "regular" reload will usually bypass the cache.
o Note that Apple ([1]) claims that clicking the Reload toolbar button has the same effect as Command-R, but this is not true; frequently the button will not bypass the cache. In fact, numerous Web developers have reported erratic behaviour in general in bypassing the cache in Safari, in some cases having to resort to both clearing the cache (see below) and then quitting and relaunching the application.

Sharen has followed the instructions via Wikipedia for Opera and emptied the cache, deleted 'private details' all to no avail!

Why is it I am able to log on (via Opera) yet she is not?

Ed (emg) has just emailed her (and bruce has emailed me) both to say they can't log on.

Sharen has just posted on the FB Group: I just tried to access the forum via my Blackberry and it is saying that the domain name, http://www.forum.carvoeiro.com, does not exist!

What is going on?

That is why I disappeared. I logged out of the netbook and then back again. It said cvo site did not exist, then pressed f5 twice and, voila, back again.
