Summer Work
I would like to work in CVO during the summer.
Can anyone offer advice on the following.
What kind of work maybe available and where to look for job vacancies?
I have visited CVO many times and can think of no better place to spend the summer.
Thanks
Jayne

Hi PeterJ
Probably just me, but really cannot get my head round the contents of your last post, be grateful if you could spell it for me
Are you saying you are for or against shared tips? Were you saying that only the waiting staff were responsible for making my evening enjoyable but they have to hand some of it over? Is your last post saying that by the time a tip is shared out it amounts to nothing? Is tipping so worthless that I am wasting my time (and money) doing it? As I say I am struggling to make sense of it but that could very easily be my own ineptness.

p.s. spent my school & college holidays waitressing, say twenty years ago (God that was painful to type
), earn't £22 per week wages and the same again plus per day in tips (shared tips system)

Once again the topic seems to have been hijacked!!
Jayne asked about getting work in Carvoeiro not the rights and wrongs of who gets a cut of the tips...
I worked out in Portugal for the summer a few years ago. (Not CVO but in Vale Do Lobo). I sent around 50 letters to a variety of companies in the Algarve and only received 2 replies. However, out of those 2 I did secure bar / restaurant work. I had a fab time and met some wonderful people, not earning very much is more than made up by the value of the experience and being able to spend the summer in Portugal. I think it would be just as easy to get bar work when you arrive, by knocking on doors, as long as you are not afraid of rejections along the way.
Jayne, if you can afford to just about earn enough to get by - go. And have a great summer.
If all else fails and you can't get a job, come home.....

I really hope that you find what you are looking for and that it pays adequately enough for you to enjoy your summer.
Do please accept my apologies if you feel that I have in any way hijacked your topic.
Whilst I apologise to Jayne if she feels that her post has been hijacked by me (I do hope that she let me know so I can do so more formally), I do not apologise to anybody else, for joining in a discussion and expressing my views, constructively and politely on an open forum.

Heaven knows what will happen when it is actually Chris or Mike who I/we offend.
