7 beautiful puppies free to good homes

Post by Helyg »

My dad gave a home to 2 stray dogs desperatly in need of a loving home, little did he know that one was carrying 7 puppies; I have just returned to the UK after spending 2 weeks with the pups, they are truly adorable and developing individual personalities by the day. Since returning I have had sleepless nights worrying how my dad will re-home them all as he cannot manage any more pets as he has also re-homed 2 cats. I know there are thousands of pets in need of homes in the area but I had to try on CVO.COM..... The puppies were born on September the 11th, 4 males and 3 females, they have been de-flead and de-wormed, fully vet checked and weaned on vetinary bought puppy food to give them the best start in life. They will be ready to leave their mum (Zara) on the 13th November but can be seen before. We recently had to home 4 pups (we ended up keeping one) & we made a poster with their photo's & that of their mum with a bit of background story & posted it in veterinary clinics, pet shops, bars anywhere we could. One lady very kindly put the poster in the vet's down at Lagos/Luz/Espiche & we had quite a lot of calls from people there. I've been told it's worthwile putting an ad with photo in the Resident. The Paws 4 Pets website has a section for waifs & strays.
Your poor dad must have his hands full, I do hope he manages to find good homes for them all. :D

Thanks Blue, I have just posted my dad 30 colour posters with pictures of the pups and mother for him to put up in every possible place, 3 vets have said they will and he also has lots of other contacts so fingers crossed.

I know Mum was a stray but what size is she and what do you think these little bundles will grow into? Just a thought for prospective owners. I am asking around but it is so tough in Portugal to find homes for these lovely dogs.

Have you seen the notice about the Great Dane pups??? makes me so cross about the welfare of all the strays in the Algarve, most of them do belong to people but they won't have them neutered which means just more and more pups all the time. :(

Hi Lesley, the mum is a labrador/pointer cross, we believe the dad to be a spaniel but cannot be certain, the vet thinks they will be a medium sized dog according to their growth rate so far.
Jan at paws4pets in Portugal has kindly placed a wonderful advert on her website and is also featuring them in the Portugal News next week, so fingers crossed.
I called dad yesterday and said if you think you've got your hands full, spare a thought for the lady with 11 great dane puppies to re-home, not the easiest of breed to find homes for.
Jan has said that they now have 4 weeks to re-home them, the mother has been ceased from the portuguese owner and is waiting to be speyed and then she will be re-homed too, hopefully to spend the rest of her days in a loving home too.

I do hope your dad finds homes for them soon. They are absolutely adorable.
Unfortunately I no longer live in Portugal but I will keep my fingers crossed for all the gorgeous pups!
