Baby Milk

Can anyone please advise what types of baby milk and nappies are available in the supermarkets. I would bring some from home but we're really struggling with the weight allowance!!

(I'll be going to the intermache on the way into town. )

We took our son to Carvoeiro when he was 8months old and on baby milk. The intermarche had a "standard" range - I think it was SMA, and we certainly didn't struggle for nappies - though they were a bit cheaper in the pharmacist in the middle of the square (which also sells milk). Swim nappies are available at the intermarche too - the only thing I would say is we find pampers much better than any others, and they don't seem to have them, they have non-english ones, plus some that look like portuguese huggies, but we have always taken pampers for overnight then used local nappies in the day... .probably more info than you need though!

Pampers are called Dodot in Portugal. Huggies are called Huggies!
I seem to remember a lot of the milk formulas are Nestlé. We moved here with a 7 month old. The baby ranges are very good. You should get everything you need in the Intermarché although I don't generally use it, I shop in Modelo/Continente and know they definitely would have everything you need.

Where is modelo? is it better than the intermache?

It's the dodot I thought were huggies - they are nowhere near as absorbent as pamper's baby dry- unfortunately!

I always used the Dodot (Pampers) Active for my boy and never had a problem. They were exactly the same as the ones you get in England.

Yes, the difference is just the name. There is a very wide range of baby products available here.

Hi Sarah

Nappies are the same as UK. I agree that the baby milk is mostly Nestle. When we took our grandaughter over in April I suggested that mum took a tin of milk, which I was thankful about as we couldn't get Cow & Gate anywhere.
She took some cartons of ready made milk too as they fit in any little corner of the case.
Don't forget though if you put any in your hand luggage, security will make you taste it and once a carton is open it only has a life span of 1hour.
