The Castelo Guest house

Hi folks
I see that there is a new sponsor on the site. That being Castelo Guest House. Has anybody stayed there and what are the rooms and facilities like? From the pictures on the web site it looks a very comfortable place.

Is this also the O Castelo restaurant? If so didn't realise until the recent advert that there are two separate businesses being run from the site.

O'Castello is an Indian Restuarant isn't it. I love the smell of curry but I don't fancy it wafting up to my room all day.

Yes, Ive been browsing the ad for this place..it is certainly in a very nice position, with lovely vistas of sea and sky.

Terry, your comment about smell of curry made me think back to one of our visits to Gibraltar and a hotel we stayed in there. The hotel was 'okayish'(central to things) but all day & night we had the aroma of cooking, spicey smells wafting, so it seemed, from the air conditioning!

But the Castelo does look nice. Though I do prefer renting an apartment.

Ellie, if you and Cleo got together, you could afford to rent my villa on the clifftops at Vale Centiannes. There, you could both enjoy the views, the space ,and she would have room to store her staff, whilst preparing hers, and maybe, if you are very good, your , asses milk jacuzzi foam bath.

I can, of course, if required, quote my rental charges in Sheckels, Eygptian pounds, or your local currency of barter, the Lincolnshire cabbage.

I'm pretty sure that the Castelo restaurant is owned by the same people who own the O'Indiano on Restuarant Hill. It was stilll an Indian when I was out in November. The guest house is above the Restaurant and I think they had just finished a refurb then. I am guessing that the Guest House is a separate enterprise from the restaurant. Its a great location with great views and handy for the Town or Monte Carvoeiro. Providing the extractor/air con is working OK the smell should not be a problem.
I have eaten in the Castelo but found the ambience a bit unusual for an Indian. It just seemed a bit too posh. I always use the O'Indiano now. I can recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh, its fantastic. The portions are enormous.

I'm sure that somewhere on the forum it was stated the O Castelo restaurant was now run by the same people that run the Indian restaurant in Monte Carvoeiro. Maybe they now have three in CVO. From their ad that the guest house is Portuguese owned, so assume they lease out the restaurant. We did eat there in the autumn, towards the end of the season, and agree with you Terry, the ambience was not quite right.

We shall give the rooms a try and we will post a response on the site on our return in June. We love the location,hope the curry smell does not linger as Richard hates curry, so we shall see.
