Public swimming pools
Public swimming pools
Hiya,
Heres 1 2 get your teeth in2.
I am a keen swimmer & have found the hotel/ apts pools 2 cold 4 me, apart from CVO Sol Hotel.
2 keep costs down 4 our next visit we will be staying in an apt.
We have been told that there are public swimming baths about.
So the quest here is 2 find out all the info on such places in and around CVO
1. Location, ie Silves, Lagos, Portamao.
2. Open hours 4 the public.
3. Do they do lane swimming.
4. Costs.
5. Discounts 4 disabled or & senior citizens.
6. Are they on bus routes from CVO.
7. Someone mentioned 2 us that one would need a letter saying you are up 2 date with certain imunizations etc.
What are these and what do we need and whats involved etc.
8. Any thing else I have 4gotten.
That will keep someone or a few of you busy & the info I am sure will be helpful 2 quite a few people & perhaps useful 4 the monthly newsletter.
Many thanks 4 all gratefully received replies with the useful info needed.
( Mentioned now cos I will 4 get 2 say later)

There's a pool next to the bus station in Lagoa but I've never been there. I'd heard about the need to have a medical certificate or similar before being allowed to use public pools.

Medical certificate or other
Hello,
It seems we do have to have a med cert or something.
Please could someone find out what this is and what it entails.
Many thanks

We enquired at Silves swimming pool on our last visit, since we are also frequent swimmers when in the UK. The pool is open to the public for most of the day, and only closes in August, for maintenance. The cost is 3 euros. The only requirements were "proper" swimwear, a swimming cap, and flip-flops. There was no mention of a medical cert.. We aim to try it when we are next out.

I've been talking to a swim coach in Lisbon. He confirmed that the medical certificate is no longer necessary but you may be asked to confirm that you have nothing infectious and it has been known for staff to refuse entry. He suggested taking someone who speaks and writes Portuguese and asking for the complaint book if there's a problem.
