Let's hope so, although who knows if we'll still be here then, all the construction may have driven us to a more rural location

Now thats an UGLY view!

They are neither modern nor traditional, built very poorly, badly maintained and dominate the centre of CVO.

Strange that nobody else has commented on this blight - yet!.
I agree, it's not very inspiring, is it? But then those apartment blocks were built quite a while ago, I had hoped that more recent developments, in what was open countryside, would have been more sympathetic to the surrounding area

I was just jesting..I'd rather stick pins in my eyes. However I do like wine and good company and nice clothes and jewellery

However I'm just miffed with who the hell / what the heck / and who's been on the pop..decided to pass such plans for a such a development. Give me a pack of 6 crayons, some loo roll and no contact lenses and I'd produce better.

Right..I'll shut up now. However every time I pass Monte Santo, I'll continue to utter and mumble not very nice things.

The best thing about Monte Santo is its proximity to the restaurant at Vila Nova

To be honest think alot of you guys are barking up the wrong tree and just demonstrate the negative cliques that sometimes exist on this forum and give some developments and restaurants a reputation fairly or not so.

When I'm staying in Carvoeiro, i actually live nearby to Monte Santo. From what previously was an unattractive bit of scrubland with a couple of olive trees the general consensus of the immediate community is that it has improved the landscape considerably (if you go past the gates). From what I understand apparently the bit of unkept land was actually a condition of Camra planning permission to retain an area for local fauna etc. The clay building colour is not meant to be for aesthetic reasons alone, but practical purposes since as I am sure you know the rain in the algarve is saturated with sand from the sahara and hence does not need painting/cleaning all the time (although personally agree I prefer the traditional white).

I live near monte santo year round and would rather have open countryside than this development any day. I don't know who you've been talking to locally, but it certainly wasn't me or any of my neighbours (a mixture of nationalities inc Portuguese - in fact we're the only British, permanent residents in our area)

The rest of us manage quite happily with white painted houses, I doubt monte santo gets different rain to us!

I would suggest that the owners of the Monte Santo Resort become an advertiser/sponsor of the forum. Over night all such negative comments will mysteriously disappear.

I just wonder how many who have made these negative comments about Monte Santo have actually visited the place suspect very few. When you boys and girls have got the knives out there is no stopping you :( I was once shot down in flames for appearing negative about CVO when I mentioned beer/food prices well I think that some have done an extremely good job here. Some may be a lot happier living/holidaying in a secure enclave its slowly going that way already in the USA and UK dont knock it some of you may join one day when your old and vunerable :( :(

Totally agree Kteee,I like the white washed properties which look so gay and clean and refreshing and reminiscent of what one expects in the area. I too thought the open land with its flora and fauna , including the olive trees were very pretty. A beautiful view ,rather than more built up resorts which are multiplying everywhere.
I watched a programme last night on the demise ogf the property developements and state of play in Spain, if people are not careful, this over indulgence of desecrating scrubland and olive groves etc will dissapear under a bulldozing and building up of muddy coloured buildings with prissy landscsape and the little oasis of this area will be gone.

IIRC correctly Michael, it was there for quite a long time, but once again, any discussion on how the forum is run should be directed to Steen
