departure board
Give Excel Airways a try . Very reasonable prices , excellent service and the flights were on time both ways when I used them in September . I just hope they keep up the good work when I come out on 27/12/03 for a week . Does anyone know if Smilers will be open ?

Wow that's brilliant, now we just have to wait and see where FlyBe prices come in, especially for me during the school hols. The ones to Murcia for example increase sharply at half term, school hols. Found the same with the easyjet flights from Bristol, hence two trips to Portugal next year flying from Heathrow - but should they come in cheap enough that would be divine, home to airport (Exeter) 30 mins - heaven!!!

OK -had a look at the Flybe prices and this is how much I hate being tied to school breaks . . .
Had a look on FlyBe for Whit half term - £255 each (paid £87.50 from LHR)
Had a look for the first two weeks of the school summer hols - £229 each (paid £87.50 from LHR)
So for four of us saving £150 per person certainly covers the petrol to LHR, the parking and a hefty whack of our alcohol bill for the holiday!!!

Having a moan here,
But anyone living south of Manchester has access to a range of cheap flights to Faro, But the only low-cost airline we have is Monarch which is not particularly cheap. I live 10 minutes from Manchester airport, and resent having to drive for an hour and a half to East Midlands on that dreaded motorway,(and as cheap flights are always first thing in the morning, necessitates a overnight stay) just to fly with BMI etc. I've asked Easyjet over and over again why they can't fly to Faro from Liverpool ( which would only take 45mins to drive to) because they do from all their other airports, but I never get a reply. If anyone wants to get together and try and lobby Easyjet, I'm your girl

Ditto!
Feel same as you Tricky--we have 2 hour drive to Eastmidlands from here in Lincs--Humberside is about hour and quarter up the road from here --but they only do certain time to Algarve-usually July/Aug--when we "dont" travel!
we're going to try Stanstead next flight--in spring--its a better drive than to Nottingham

Hi Guest
Obviously cannot get prices for Easyjet Bristol for May and July next year yet - however based on the feb half term price £160 each, I imagine figures around £200 for whit half term and the beginning of the school hols. As I said earlier, I think the problem is the school holidays rather than the availablity of low cost airlines.
With the above in mind though starting to get a bit fed up on any number of travel forums with the suggestion that everyone south of Manchester is "all right", try living down on the South West Penisular anything from two hours to Bristol (if you are very, very lucky to find a flight from there) to more usually 3-4 hours to LGW, for those in Cornwall 4-6 hours.
This topic heading has been really useful in making suggestions of where to look and what can be available if you can be flexible.
