Helen--you live in a lovely part of the UK --have travelled through Somerset a few times but dont know it too well, but will definitely look for that view from Selworthy church!
Sandy, I dont know anything of the part of world you live, Muscat ,Oman. Have you lived/worked there for long time? Must be so different from bonnie Scotland--do you ever get homesick at all --as I did --I never got back to UK the couple of years we were in Algarve and there were times I really missed it.
" Bacalhau" ! The Portuguese captured Muscat in 1507--blimey, I know salt cod has long shelf life but not that long surely!

During the autumn sardine harvesting season the Omanis catch huge numbers of fish and, in the traditional way of preserving them (power and refrigeration are relatively new to a lot of areas), leave them on the beach to dry. After a few days in the sun it certainly smells like they've been there since 1507!

But Rampage --I do think we''ll have to see what Sandy& Gordon have to say about that!
makes me wonder what those (is it 100yearold?) eggs the chinese eat --taste like? I dont mind chinese -but think I might stop at that one----
