I belong to the camp of readers who enjoy the monthly writings from Karen and previously from Nigel, but I also agree that the word Newsletter may lead to unexpected results. I think to call it a "Diary" is a bit boring and doesn't have the punch needed.

So let me suggest some alternatives, and perhaps this may spark more and better inspiration from others:

Ruminations of a Resident

Karen's Carvoeiro

A Month in Carvoeiro

Last Month in Carvoeiro

And my favourite:

Carvoeiro Rumblings

Let your imagination run wild....

I like "Karen's Carvoeiro", because that's what the newsletter is about at the moment and it makes it sound personal. My second choice would be "Last Month in Carvoeiro"
