you can't actually use it as transport, it leaves the square and goes up the hill to clube atlantico, then turns round and back down to the square, there aren't any stops

hey Gambrinus...!
this sounds like an opportunity....if the current train does not stop, maybe you could start up another one which does stop at the various hotels...you
could get a bigger one with a bigger bell

the train did use to stop at various points on route and was quite a fun alternative to taxi transport to the village ( if that is your idea of fun! the children loved it ) announcing it's arrival with the charming bell  ( tongue in cheek ) , bring back jumbalino !

Is the Clube Atlantico anywhere near the Tivoli Almansor? Does anyone know if the building that's shown on the web-cam is the Hotel Carvoeiro Sol? Many thanks!!

The building to the right in the cam view is the hotel Carvoeiro Sol, I think that the Club Alantico is on the road out of Carvoeiro past the turn off to Benagil and on about a mile ( so about 2 miles from the Almansor).

Hope this helps

Len

PS we stayed at the Dom Sancho ( before it was renamed as the Sol)seventeen years ago and the facilites then were good, the location is excellent.

Mike, you are a genious :!:

In fact, why don´t we get rid of all cars and just run little trains as taxis?!
Fun for the whole family. Thanks to the open sides you would not even have to stop when the bumps and diesel fumes trigger your upchuck reflex.

Alas, we would put the local "association for roadkill removal" out of buisness - they could then re-open as the "local help group for spinal deficiencies"

How about that :!: :?:

(Sorry mads, self control is fickle in blazing heat and diesel stench :P )

Does anyone know if the train stops near the Almansor? Sorry for all the stupid questions, but I have never been to Carvoeiro, but really looking forward to visiting the resort. I want to know as much as possible about the place, and impress hubby!!! :D

No Annie, it does a round trip and only stops on the square.

Thats the point Mike, it can take me 15 mins to walk as far as A Gale from the Sol, in a pair of strappy sandals, let alone the Almansor!!

The Almansor is beautiful, with fantastic views, and gorgeous accommodation . . . and a re-sus team waiting in reception!!!

. . . and how easy you find it to walk, drunk, in high heels AND eating an icecream or crepe from our favourite icecream establishment . . .
