Thank you for the various replies. We are hoping to finalise with Flamingo, which was our 2nd choice initially. We are also battling to finalise the chapel booking in Carvoeiro (little challenges along the way are inevitable, I guess) so if anyone knows of names and/or contact details of churches in and around the town, again I'd be grateful.
The message board has been helpful - thanks goes to the Webmaster.

best wishes
Hi linda, just a quick shout to wish you and yours all the best for your big day. You didn,t tell where or when the ceramony was to take place( smart girl the last thing you need is a load of us arriving full to the ears with black russians, getting all maudlin then starting a row, mind you it is a wedding so if you change your mind let us know) but i guess its soon .One thing my mam,god be good to her, said to me before igot married, after she accused me of ruining that loverly young girls life, was .When in the lions field hunting lions ignore the rabbits, but when in the rabbits field hunting rabbits watch out for the lions.
Any way i,m sure i,m speaking for all of us on the forum when i say our thought, prayers and best wishes are with you on your big day have a great time.

Sorry - I have to disagree about the Flamingo - the setting is absolutely stunning for a wedding reception, and I find the food particularly good compared with the 'saminess' that other restaurants in the area have. I think you have made a great choice and will have a wonderful time.
Perhaps it would have been more useful if Cabecinha would explain exactly what he/she finds to dislike about it
Let us all know how it goes (any chance of getting Steen to post some piccies??)

Personally I think it would have been more useful if Cabecinha hadn't said anything at all knowing that the venue had already been booked.
That sort of thing is the last thing you need on the build up to your "big day". I am sure that it will be brilliant for you and I wish you all the very best.

Wedding
I see my enquiries about Carvoeiro ignited quite a discussion, to say the least.
Thank you for your suggestions, concerns, warnings, etc. We arrived home last night after an awesome 2 weeks in Carvoeiro.
(You're right Maddi, had O Flamingo been a total disaster, it's certainly not something I would have wanted to hear a few days before my wedding.)
However, let me be the latest & greatest update on O Flamingo - we had an absolutely brilliant dinner party. Petra and Roland, the owners, were most obliging and the food was excellent and in total abundance. We were set up outside on the patio by the pool and the photos are beautiful.
We had an awesome wedding at the chapel on the hilltop, and were blessed with a very special wedding all 'round, from the pastor to the DJ to the photographer to the reception. Pastor Greg Eckler married us, superb and heart-warming service, just what we wanted. Robby Richardson did the music, real stand-up guy. (They're both Christian DJs on the local "Kiss FM" radio station and are a real hit with the community.) And Vitor Rocha did our photos. I highly recommend all 3 professionals for any similar function.
Thanks again for all your comments. Some have been helpful, others...well, a little impetuous, I guess. I may post some pics on the site a little later to share what was a really special occasion.
If anyone visiting Carvoeiro or the area in the future would like some info on good restaurants & the like, I'm now in a position to point you to some places with exceptional service & piri piri chicken
Thanks & Regards
