Steen

Does this mean that you could deliver a car to Monchique and it could be dropped off at the airport on departure?

I agree that the base price on algarvedriver.com is cheaper than Holiday Autos, but this does not take into account the 'insurance excess' charges. You can pay £1.50 a day to cover this on H.A but to get the equivalent with algarvedriver costs between 6-10 euros a day and this pushes the price above HA. With the high accident rate on portuguese roads, we do not like to hire a car without covering this 'extra'!

 Just a thought carolyn, if you come out regularly to Portugal as we do, usually once a month for us, We have found it best to take out insurance to cover the cost of the 'extra' insurance, it costs me £49 per year for multiple car hire, and works out much cheaper than taking the offered insurance extra. I do it over the internet with a company called Insurance4carhire. Then you only pay the price you are quoted, also if you pay in cash at the Airport you get a 4% discount on your quoted price. YOP (Algarve driver) have been fantastic for us, always very good, polite agents at the airport and good cars, you return the car as you pick it up ie. you don't have to return it with a full/empty tank. Also out of season you usually get a good upgrade for free. Works for us

I have used Holiday Autos twice and Algarve Driver 2+ times. The Holiday Autos prices always looks good until you receive your credit card statement! I have always found Algarve Driver to be much cheaper. Maybe it depends on the size of car too?

Before I bought a car and hired regularly I used www.insurance4carhire.com It covers your excess for as many periods of up to 31 days as you wish within 12 months. Seem to recall it covered extra drivers and also things like tyres, exhausts not normally included.
