Clare etc
Im going with my mam and dad (29th July) and Im 32 years old!!! They have been going for 16 years, me and the lads tag along sometimes.

Im mountian biking for 2 weeks this year so just using cvo as a base. Thats if the mountains are safe due to fires.

The foam party is a right laugh - but we went straight from there to airport in totally minging clothes - our shoes totally wrecked so dont wear your best stuff. Im 5ft7 and occasionally foam was over me head! The bloke had this big gun and kept firing foam at us like a water cannon!
I "went under" a few times (mind you I was full of vodka) grabbing onto legs and that (yeah yeah any excuse to pull!)

cvo not really geared for the young'uns but you will really enjoy.

as previously mentioned, prais de rocha is excellent for nightlife, the strip (albuferia) is something else but miles away.

have fun, im the one drowned by foam

I am sure Steen put something up about taxi prices on Carvoeiro.com a few years ago but you could always email Paulo Lapa the taxi driver. send me a mail to falcondefault@hotmail.com and I will forward on your request.

thanks Falcon it was just a question at the moment as we have friends staying in that area and wondered if we could get there without one of us having to drive, Has Paulo got a phone number so we can call if we decide to go. Keep up the good work all of you.

..hi falcon…I’m after a bit of free advice here……..been looking at that interview you did with Paulo the taxi driver back in 2001……..and you talked about internet connections and netcabo……and Paulo says
I have a friend in Lisbon, I was speaking with him and last week he had some problems because there are many people connected at the same time
….Well, I have recently switched from using normal phone line (not adsl) to netcabo, and I don’t find it much faster…..I’m not talking about downloading anything like games or music, just opening web pages….I understand it should be a lot faster….and I’ve spoken with netcabo who say I need a new computer.
Do you think they could be right…or is it not as fast as they pretend….
Thanks for your help (if you can)

hi digger,

I was also shocked at how slow their cable really was. I was expecting light speed but got something a tad shy of that.

It depends what amount of bandwidth you bought, I have a 256k connection and it downloads at more or less 20- 40 kb/sec. You can test this by downloading something and looking at your download software (usually Internet Explorer) and checking the speed.

Naturally this will vary a whole lot depending on where you download from but if you can read Portuguese http://suporte.netvisao.pt have a speed test, where you download a block of data and check the speed. (Go to VELOCIDADE on the left hand menu and then scroll down on the next page to "pagina de speedtest". Let me know if you need any help.

Otherwise get more RAM for your computer, this will always help, and if that doesnt make you any happier buy a new pc :P

..ah falcon thanks for that…..I’ll try and make some sense of it all and I may get back to you……It’s only a matter of time before I splash out on a new machine but in the meantime I think I’ll try deleting some stuff to see if it makes her go any faster….

(I tied to send you a PM earlier but it seems to be stuck in my outbox…..not the first time I’ve had this problem)
