I have booked the mega experience for my husband's 40th birthday while we are in the Algarve - he will be so excited when he finds out!

Re: Porsche experience at the Autodrome
Well, visited the Autodromo this morning thinking in my mind it was Saturday 15/9/2012 and International Superstar GT racing practice was on ( as advertised in Tomorrow CARVOEIRO) , they must be on a different page to my agenda, no caras in sight , just a couple of bike racing teams testing, but what a circuit, quite testing for the bikes never mind cars ! ! I'd certainly like to give it a try with the R35 GTR that was in the circuit shop.

Probably no comparison with my old R33 GTR.

Re: Porsche experience at the Autodrome
After my experience yesterday with the "Portuguese" calendar I'll pass on that and watch it at home on T.V. and get better viewing of the circuit. Quite a track though, well worth the visit.cumbria sue wrote:world super bikes are on 21st-23rd sept if you are still there, worth going to see esp' if you go in main stand good view of most of the track
Re: Porsche experience at the Autodrome
going slightly off topic
last year in late October I saw lots of adds on various billboards for the Portuguese Open (Golf) and the Superbikes, both of which were over by the time I arrived. But I was slightly miffed to discover - after it was over, natch, that there was a vintage car day at the track during my visit. Saw no advertisements for it anywhere.
Is it on this year and if so anybody got an idea when? Almost sure it was a Sunday last year, late October.

Re: Porsche experience at the Autodrome
It is the classic and historic car meet and has been held at the track for the last 3 years in October and a great weekend for nostalgic petrol heads, sadly there is an issue with the organisers and it was moved to Estoril then to Jerez on the weekend starting October 10sunman wrote:take a look here, says something about a 'classic' weekend 19th-21st Octoberjoeysoap wrote:going slightly off topic![]()

Thanks Sunman and Ron5000 , unfortunately sounds as if its not on now. What annoyed me most last year was that I was looking for something to do on that Sunday and actually drove past the track on the way to Aljezur and the west coast. (isn't Jerez in Spain, appears bit drastic moving from one country to another?)

Re: Porsche experience at the Autodrome
The Autodromo web site needs some serious attention. The set up they have for "visitors" also needs looking at. We visited cicuit Catalunya and were guided around the main areas, pits control center, winners area, press interview and podium areas. Portimao, left to wander around on our own in a deserted area, no maps, sweet f.a. as regards information, only what I gleaned from their crap web site. Must do better if they want to get Mr Ecclestones attention !!
Re: Porsche experience at the Autodrome
The Portimao race track is flat broke, it is discussion with creditors ( including Bernie Ecclestone ) to find a way to stave of receivership.
It was a good idea built at the wrong time and without F1 standard races it faces a very uncertain future.
