Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Well I'm sure that wouldn't be the case in this instance, for one thing this is hardly a competition as such, these people haven't been competing with each other all year to be the 'best' person in Carvoeiro it's an award for one of those people that have done something for the town in one way or another. And it's not like there's a huge value prize at stakemartin wrote:I am sure steen is a worthy contender but most competitions I know of or have ever entered exclude those who work for or own the business which is sponsoring the contest otherwise the competition could face allegations that it had been fixed

you mean bradd pitt will not be the mc at the first "carvies", no red carpet down to the beach stage...no tears on stage..no "it would mean the world to me"..what bad news!!!!
I had hoped for a night of stars at this and will surely become in the future the most important thing in the algarve

Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
as those who write on here get "oranges" then perhaps this years winner should get a golden orange
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Please don't include me in the list of eligible candidates, I can well understand you being shocked by that request but I feel I'm too old to accept such an honour, well deserved as it may be, I'll just carry on in my normal subserviant manner behind the scenes working hard for the betterment of the "village", God bless you all.
Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
Pato, so modest and unashuming, you obviously realise you would be a 'shoo in' for the award.
You will get your reward in Heaven (or at harry's bar)

Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
we could induct you into the "Carvies Hall of Fame" which I plan to open next to the waxworks expo or perhaps a modest Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lifetime Achievement Award, that's a definite sign for the downhill slope to obscurity, right, he's had his little award, now shuffle him off into the corner and we can carry on with the proper stuff. Get an LAA, what else is there to aim for, an Extra- Lifetime Achievement !!martin wrote:we could induct you into the "Carvies Hall of Fame" which I plan to open next to the waxworks expo or perhaps a modest Lifetime Achievement Award.![]()
Stay away dear Pato, stay away.

Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
No question about it - it should be Margarida, as wisely suggested by Logicbob.
Her newsletters are very informative and on many occassions she actually goes out and does research on an issue costing her time and money(ie: petrol). She provides information and valuable advice.
The monthly reports are very much appreciated not just in CVO but in many countries where forum members are based and read-up her reports.
The other persons named here although very worth are actually getting paid to provide a service whereas with Margarida she does it completely free - nada/zero/zilch.

Re: Carvoeiro Person of the Year
I have created the poll without Margarida as there is a financial link to the web site, but have added e-richard as his function as forum moderator is not remunerated. This said Margarida certainly deserve praise for her outstanding newsletters, and if you feel I am wrong please let me know.
