Just a word of warning, don't leave anything valuable in your car as there have been more and more cases of thieves targeting the parked cars in this area

Although I do not know the way as 'he that must be obeyed', drives, and not me. We discovered there are quite a few ways to get to the waterfall and that when we were there a car drove right down along the river bed adjacent to the lake. So there must be a way to it that way. Some people said they walked along the river bed from where they parked which was very much different to the way we went, which is the way listed on google earth.
However by whatever means one gets there, it is really well worth it.
No loos, so one finds a swim or a bush the best place. Take loo rolls along, also with plenty of food and cold drinks as there is no where to obtain any refreshments. Many Portugese were having bbq's along the river bank, but it is a long way to carry so much, however much lighter on the return journey !!
Take mosy repellant too.

As I recall its signposted from the main rd to the car park and then the walkway is indicated - basically if in doubt FOLLOW THE RIVER!

Well worth the trip!

Thanks for the advice FMM.
If its too hot we probably wont' go as the prospect of pushing a buggy and pulling a 3-year old along,
doesn't seem to appeal to me.

Thanks

I don't want to sound like a complete Divvy, but does anyone know whether the waterfall still cascades in early September, or
does the hot july/august whether dry up the pool somewhat?
We visited in November 2009 & it was virtually dried up with no waterfall which took us by surprise as there had been quite a bit of rain.
It was still lovely though & the walk was good as temperatures in the high teens...not sure if I'd fancy it in the middle of summer but at least you would be able to cool off when you got there!
