Ryanair cabin luggage
Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
Ryanair fly from Bournemouth, so have used them a few times, without hand luggage, and cheap flights. When the competition is about £100 different it is a no brainer, but follow the rules or beware - as said before - simple. Last time I flew there were a couple of wheelchair passengers. They were boarded after priority seating, at the front, and the others continued to board from the rear or queued behind the wheelchair passengers.
They have discontinued flights for 3 months this winter, and another airline has just done the same. Had some really good trips last spring with Ryanair (Bournemouth to Paris, Dublin, Milan), some only £2 return and no taxes. These flights were not full, so no surprise they will not be running same time next year.

Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
They don't have one - it's their way or not at all. I had the misfortune to fly back here last Wednesday from Dublin with them. The aircraft had just 'dumped' its passengers from Spain (16.20) and started boarding us (16.30) through the rear door as 7 of the incoming passengers requiring assistance had not disembarked. Apparently, there was an argument between Ryanair and Aer Rianta (the airport owners) and until it was resolved - the passengers were staying. That took 15 minutes to resolve. It did mean that on arrival in Faro 20 minutes late we didn't have to endure all the nonsense about their punctuality record - phew!steve wrote:I object to the company´s customer service philosophy.
The aircraft was filthy - papers, food, drink cartons all over the cabin floor - it was disgraceful.
To make matters worse the crew were Spanish and extremely surly - a Lady sitting beside asked for a breakfast bap (Bacon and egg) and was served a ciabatta with chicken and ham. When she challenged the chief cabin attendant - she was told that was all they had - so make do. Fortunately all I wanted was a bottle of water - so no problem there - but I was expecting a row.
Had it not been for the €49 fare, I would have traveled back to Gatwick and made my way back here - but saw that the EJ flight was €279 - I had to use my 'sensible' head and fly with Ryanair. I travel a lot (300 hours per annum) and can honestly say that Ryanair is the worst airline on this planet - bar none. Clearly at the prices they charge - it's a no-brainer but it is not a pleasant experience. When you add all the other disincentives to fly (security, baggage restrictions etc) - the last thing you want is an aggressive airline to compound the misery. Ryanair is the epitome of the worst in bad service and rudeness. I just wish they were not the symbol of Ireland - they embarrass me and my country.
I have friends who use them all the time for their 99p flights between Cork and Liverpool - who acknowledge they are appalling - but at that price they grin and bear it.
Yes, they are profitable - but that does not make them the self-proclaimed 'World's favourite airline' - they are the total opposite

Didn't you offer to loan him the thirty quid? I would have done so for perhaps, one day, if the need arose, I might have need of a good Samaritan myself.Colana wrote:...A young chap, in a similar position did have to forego his flight as he didn't have enough cash on him..

Just booked February half-term with EJ. There were no flights available from Birmingham with Ryanair.

Why, because I'm going to cvo or because there were no Ryanair flights? Rhetorical questione-richard wrote:Lucky you!

Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
i have used ryanair many times to other destinations i have always found them punctual, clean, and as long as you abide with their rules they are great ,break their rules and you pay dearly
10 kilos hand baggage in a bag 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is their rules not 14 kilos 13 kilos or even 10.1 kilos and that you must check in on line and bring your own boarding cards why people complain when they dont complie is realy beyond me
however the flight to faro from leeds is not for me it gets in too late at faro as its a faro based aeroplane but there is a silver lining conjet2 sorry jet2.com have had to reduce their prices so its cheaper to fly on the uks most antiquated and unpunctual airline so i am back with them

Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
Totally agree with all the comments (strict terms and conditions) but they change nothing - it is still my least favourable airline and does nothing to endear itself to the traveling public - apart from being cheap (and nasty with it)

Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
My daughter and son-in-law returned yesterday from a long weekend in Poland, visiting friends. They flew Ryanair from Liverpool to Wroclaw for £47 each return. They have done the trip before and know the ropes as regards cabin baggage, so no problems there. Most passengers were Polish and departure from Liverpool was very orderly. However the return trip was very different. The Polish passengers have a habit of crowding in front of the departure windows watching for the aircraft and as soon as they spot it arriving there is a mad dash for the gate. It is a small airport and very chaotic. The checking of hand baggage seems almost non-existent. Daughter tried to put her bag in the overhead locker, but it was almost filled by just one bag which was almost twice as big as it should have been. Fortunately, her bag fitted under the seat, but she noticed other passengers stuffing oversize bags in the lockers. She also spotted a number of women with large handbags as well as their travel bags, something that would not be allowed here. Seems that Ryanair turn a blind eye when it suits.
Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
Apparently in Sweden, Ryanair weighs all hand luggage. Quite happy they haven't started that here (yet)
Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
It will be down to the ground agents who Ryan air contract passenger and baggage handling to.
The EJ team at Faro are not preditable either.

Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
We flew on an internal flight between Male and Gan in the Maldives and they weighed the passengers as well as the baggage!
Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
We got weighed on a flight from Barbados to Union Island - we thought it was funny at the time.
Hope Michael O'Leary doesn't get any ideas on this

Re: Ryanair cabin luggage
i can see it now SLIM for Cheaper flights why should slim passengers pay for larger passengers
although we had a flight to dublin earlier in year 99p each inc taxes £3.96 return for pauline and me paid with free credit card so no extras except for our grandaughter £20 each way total cost for flight £43.96 still cheap but !!
