Maybe we need an Agony Aunt/uncle section on this forum Karen? Could you or Gambrinus de-stress all the tense bunch on here today?

Didnt realise this had been going on during the day.

Think Maddi & Ellie would make super Agony Aunts!!

Hi, can i just say a few words,firstly with the exception of one or two fine wordsmiths ,most of us on this site are mearly doing our best to convey our thoughts and feelings through the written word and with the best intentions in the world we,re not all as great at it as we,d like to be so do yis think we could give the benifit of the doubt to people who are only trying to help.
Secondly,we have a lot of different nationalities here who may not all share the same understanding of shall we sy "tone of voice"remember the famous bottle of port prize incident,?and that was only ment to be a bit of craic.
thirdly,i didn,t know that there could be problems with long term lets,and i presume the postings are for all our benifits so on my behalf thank you guest.
and last of all this is all just a bit of craic enjoy it im sure it was never ment to cause this kind of hassle,none of this is personal

Gerry, there shouldn’t be any problem. One should just go along to an estate agent who will gladly show some properties. Make sure they’re registered with an AMI number, and they are qualified to draw up a legal contract. This contract will be in Portuguese but there are, of course, lawyers in Algarve to help. The market should not be confused with holiday lets, so landlords/agents offering different prices for different seasons are probably best avoided.

I think there are quite a few users of this forum, moderators, members and guests alike who could actually do with reading the the 'bottle of port' saga to really understand Steens' hopes, fears and expectations about this forum and how it should look and be policed.

Hi Gerry

I think you will find that it was me who pointed that out to him!!!!! I never said that by reading it we all turn out to be paragons of virtue but I think it shows that we talked and talked until we began to understand where everyone was coming from - at least that is what I thought we did. And to be honest the forum has been a great place place to be until the latter part of 2003.

also worth remembering is that the contract should be registered with the "Finances" as tax is due on the income.
