Sign of the Times!
Re: Sign of the Times!
Is this the bar that was Flic Flac? If so we've seen several people come & go here, nobody seems to make a go of it for long.
I think if you've got decent staff in the place I don't see why the owners should be in permanent 'mine host' mode, as long as the customer gets good service with a smile from someone, who cares if it's the owner or not, most of the ones we know like nothing better than to have a good moan. By this time in the season most of the staff in the bars & restaurants are a little jaded. The catering trade's bloody hard work, it'd be ok if it weren't for the customers.

Little did I know the can of worms I was opening there. I wonder if Graham from The Irish Times is interested?
Why else would they be in a huddle over their pints? At €480,000 without accommodation and 'no real competition' - has he not looked across the road recently - what planet is he on

You're a right old fishwife shanagarry - have you nothing better to do than criticise how other people live their lives - especially as you can't possibly know the circumstances behind anything you have commented on.

A 'fishwife' - that's a first - whatever it means!
If you looked at my earlier posting - I did say that anything they did was their own business - nothing's changed there.
I'm just propagating the topic. In this instance what started out as a simple observation appears to have a bit more to it. Nothing sinister in that - is there?
In the light of the 'sale' revelation - I would have thought he would be doing everything he can and some, to increase his turnover and profit to make the opportunity all that more appealing to a prospective buyer - don't you? With a 'price tag' of that magnitude - any credible buyer with a degree of awareness will be looking for Brady's 'USP' (Unique Selling Proposition) - what does anybody believe that to be - or is he bothered - probably not given his earlier reply

You're digging a hole Shanagarry. Why don't you just get out while you can? You've talked nothing but utter nonsense on this topic!!
Re: Sign of the Times!
I have previously commented on the apparent lack of business drive sometimes seen in the Algarve and it would appear is more evident in CVO.
Places that close in July and August ( peak season ) when it makes economic sense to stay open 7 days /nights week.
Opening late , when there are obviously customers around.( there are months when there will be few if any )
You can only complain about the lack of busness when as a business you have done everything you can to access whatever trade is available.
No one ever said it would be easy.

Time to go time - clearly touched on a sensitive matter.
Apologies for any offence caused - it was not intended.

Why go? You have the right to an opinion. Just because some don't agree with you doesn't mean you have to go - that just plays into their hands. I have read and reread your comments and can't see what you've said that could be so controversial.shanagarry wrote:Time to go time - clearly touched on a sensitive matter.

Stay and keep posting your thoughts and opinions and ignore those that have nothing better to do than post their indignation at a post they don't like.

Re: Sign of the Times!
I agree with MC. I think the reaction to your post is a bit extreme, maybe you have touched a nerve. Seems like you have made a polite observation and it's others who have been rude towards you.
Anyway, if nothing else, it might be creating a spark of interest for Baggy.

Hi Laserblazer
Thank you for your words of support and encouragement and to the others who have contacted me in a similar vein. Clearly this is a matter that arouses a considerable amount of interest - I wonder why?
I have just sent MC a pm setting out my reasons for backing off. If you wish to pm me I will send you a copy.
I have no problem pursuing the matter but I have a feeling there may be a personal matter in there and I have no wish to add to it. You can rest assured that I will watch developments and if my hunch is wrong - I will resurrect the matter.

If you are touching a nerve, then it is possibly sadistic to keep prodding. So I think you are right to let it drop. I just didn't think it was necessary for people to be rude to you. I've noticed a couple of the Bar owners who post here are either shamelessly touting for business or getting a bit offensive at times.

Re: Sign of the Times!
Thanks again - I have no problem with people being rude to me - as long as they don't complain when they get it back in spades - because they will
