Re: Intermarche vs Lidl...try Pingo Doce

Post by Geoff »

Try the Pingo Doce in Lagoa , prices are very similar to Lidl but its more convenient. There is also a small bakery which has rolls at 16 cents & home baked large Palmeira's for 50 cents, as well as the usual range. Fresh veg & small butchery counter are good value , & you don't have to queue for ages. No fresh fish though , go to Pau d'Acucar in Lagoa for that.
Staff are very friendly & helpful too!

For those regulars and visitors who are mobile, it is worth getting your meats from Andifer, in Portimao, near the railway Station. I am not advertising for them, but their meat quality and price is fantastic. One can get all types of meat, English cut and they are so helpful. The young man who was at Blue Rock, is now there and doing a Stirling job. Well worth the visit. We just love the loin of Pork with Crackling and their Rib Steaks. Also the marinated Legs of Lamb are great for the BBQ. I still say that the Markets are the best for lovely fresh vegetables.
